Phased Rollout Begins in Bengaluru
Ola is implementing a staggered delivery strategy, starting with Bengaluru and then expanding to other cities in the following weeks. This is a step that allows for smoother logistics and responding to any initial customer performance feedback.
Market Competition
With this launch, the Roadster X directly competes with other electric motorcycles in the Indian market such as the Revolt RV400 and Oben Rorr, offering competitive pricing and advanced features.
Financial Update and Recent Controversies
In spite of this product thrust, Ola Electric has been in the news lately for the wrong reasons. The company has been implicated for running more than 90% of its stores without compulsory trade certificates, and its February 2025 sales numbers revealed a whopping mismatch between reported numbers (25,000 units) and actual registrations on the government’s VAHAN portal (about 8,600 units). Ola explained the gap as a temporary delay after the cancellation of its registration agency deals.
On the revenue side, the company’s net loss rose by 50% to ₹564 crore in Q3 FY25, while its operating revenue declined 19% year-on-year.
