PUNE, June 3 – In a hard-hitting statement during his address at Savitribai Phule Pune University, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan declared that India has redefined its response to cross-border terrorism by drawing new military redlines and launching Operation Sindoor India, aimed squarely at dismantling Pakistan’s long-standing “bleed India by a thousand cuts” strategy.

Operation Sindoor: A Bold Shift in India’s Anti-Terror Doctrine
General Chauhan emphasized that Operation Sindoor was not just about a retaliatory military strike—it was a message. A message that India will no longer tolerate state-sponsored terrorism or nuclear blackmail.
“The thinking behind Operation Sindoor was that terrorism from Pakistan has to stop, and that country should not be able to hold India hostage anymore,” he stated.
India’s response came in the form of precision strikes on Pakistani targets, with some attacks narrowed down to as little as two metres in radius, showing the might of Indian defense technology and intelligence.
“Losses Don’t Matter, Outcomes Do”
Responding to questions about Indian casualties during the initial phase of Operation Sindoor, Gen Chauhan dismissed the criticism.
“It would be incorrect to talk about numbers. In war, there may be setbacks, but morale and ultimate outcomes are what matter,” he asserted.
This marks a notable shift in military discourse where transparency is paired with strategic messaging, aimed at both the domestic audience and India’s adversaries.
Pakistan’s Offensive Folded in 8 Hours
In a striking revelation, Gen Chauhan said Pakistan’s planned 48-hour operation was called off within just 8 hours as Indian forces responded with crushing efficiency.
“At 1 AM on May 10, Pakistan launched multiple attacks expecting to cripple India. By 9 AM, they were asking to talk.”
This rapid turnaround showcases not just the preparedness of Indian armed forces, but also the psychological and tactical upper hand they gained.
“We Connected Terror to Water”: India’s New Strategic Leverage
Perhaps the most significant statement came when Gen Chauhan revealed that India has now linked acts of terror with critical national resources like water, hinting at a larger, more integrated strategy moving forward.
“We have raised the bar. We have connected terror to water. We have drawn a new line of military operation against terror,” he said.
“Spewing Venom”: Pakistan’s Narrative & the Pahalgam Attack
Referring to Pakistan Army Chief Gen Asim Munir’s anti-India rhetoric just weeks before the Pahalgam attack, Gen Chauhan highlighted how deep the ideological and strategic hostilities run.
“What happened in Pahalgam was profound cruelty. It reflects the mindset of a state bent on inflicting pain under the guise of ideology.”
📌 Conclusion: A Defining Moment in India’s Counter-Terror Doctrine
Gen Chauhan’s remarks outline a new, assertive India—an India that refuses to be drawn into prolonged conflict, but is prepared to respond with strength, precision, and clarity.
With Operation Sindoor, India has not only rewritten the rules of engagement but also reasserted its sovereignty in the face of persistent provocation.
