PM Modi Urges Citizens to “Deepen Efforts” to Save the Planet

On Thursday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to inspire action.

“This World Environment Day, let’s deepen our efforts towards protecting our planet and overcoming the challenges we face. I also compliment all those working at the grassroots to make our environment greener and better.” — PM Narendra Modi

The Prime Minister’s message aligns with this year’s UNEP theme, focusing on land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience. The appeal encourages individuals, communities, and institutions to go beyond symbolic gestures and embrace long-term environmental responsibility.

Maharashtra Sets Ambitious Goal: 10 Crore Trees in 2025

Stepping up significantly on the state front, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis made a bold declaration: to plant 10 crore trees in the state during 2025. The goal was identified during a high-level review meeting of the state’s flagship “Green Maharashtra, Prosperous Maharashtra, Prosperous Maharashtra” mission.

“Tree plantation must become a people’s movement. Every citizen’s participation is key to a greener, more sustainable Maharashtra,” Fadnavis emphasized.

This campaign aims to combat climate change, restore biodiversity, and improve air quality — all while promoting eco-conscious behavior among the people of Maharashtra.

Acharya Prashant Honored as ‘Most Impactful Environmentalist’

In a memorable moment that was at once spiritual and sustainable, philosopher and author Acharya Prashant was conferred the distinguished ‘Most Impactful Environmentalist‘ title by the Green Society of India at the World Environment Conference 2025 held at Greater Noida.

In his speech, Acharya Prashant said:

“The climate crisis is not just outside; it’s inside. Glaciers are melting because our minds are burning with greed. Oceans are rising because our desires know no bounds. True environmentalism begins not in policy, but in consciousness.”

His unique approach integrates inner transformation with environmental stewardship, motivating millions to rethink consumerism and return to mindful, minimalistic lifestyles.
